Rei has undergone many changes from manga to anime,
and from Japan to all other corners of the world...

***

The Manga Rei ~ The manga Rei is drawn very much in detail.  Ms. Takeuchi payed special attention to Rei's beauty.  Her hair is drawn to where one can almost see every strand.  Rei here is very serious and makes it clear that she hates men.  The manga also goes into further detail to Rei's background, explaining that Rei's father is a politican who she never sees and that Rei's mother died when Rei was very young.

***

The Anime Rei ~ Rei is given a more colorful personality here.  Her character is broadened and less attention is placed on her beauty...though at one point Luna says, "She's so beautiful, do you think she could be the princess?"  Rei here, does not show any hate towards men, and even has a few crushes (she also dates  Mamoru for a while, and has kissed Yuuichiru twice ^^) There is hardly, if any, attention given to her parents and the crows.  However, there is a new character given to Rei's fan club:  Yuuichiru (HOORAY^^), a man who has fallen in love with Rei and works at the temple in hopes she'll love him someday.

The DiC Raye ~ Here is one Rei (Raye?) I am not very fond of.  Though I refuse to call her b***** like some describe her, I admit that at times she appears bratty.  How the company DiC could have interpreted her character like that, I have no idea.  Raye is considered pretty, but also sometimes cruel.  Serena (Usagi) is constantly in fear of what Raye will say to her.  All in all, I think that DiC could have done a better job.

The Clover Raye ~ I'm not exactly sure what I think of this Raye, though I applaud Clover for making her more like her Japanese counterpart.  They aren't afraid to show Raye and Serena's growing friendship.  As I find more on this Raye, this will be updated.

My Favorite Rei ~ I prefer the manga Rei, and the anime Rei.  To me, they seem to be the most complete characters, and the most well done.
